About Us

Terry (TC to his friends) is a prominent figure in the global diving community, has a PhD specializing in the business of dive tourism and is currently the principal partner of Dive Queensland. He sits on Government & NGO committees and is a Fellow of the Explorers Club of New York. Amongst his many awards, in 2013, TC received one of Australia’s highest honours: Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his contribution to scuba diving. Via the many years of engagement with the dive industry, his award-winning photography, writing, and the countless hours spent underwater, he has witnessed the changes in the dive industry along with the human impacts on the underwater environment. His personal goal: “To maintain the long-term sustainability of recreational scuba diving and snorkelling in Queensland”.

Cathie (‘Bubbles' to her friends) has 40 years of scuba diving experience and has logged dives across many of world’s best dive sites. She has a massive passion for the marine world and with the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea marine parks in her backyard, she finds much of the subject material for her award-winning photographs. With a strong business and project management background, Cathie also sees diving as a way to bridge the gap between the day-to-day pressures of life and finding the time to accept new challenges. “The more you dive, the more you learn, the more you learn the better you dive and the more passion you develop for the marine environment. This is one of the reasons why Dive Queensland is so important to me – to bring to others the wonderful opportunities we have for snorkelling and scuba diving right along the Queensland coast”.​​

 Certified as a diver in 1961, with a background encompassing military, commercial, scientific, and technical diving sectors - and proficient and qualified in Open-Circuit and Closed Circuit Scuba, and Surface Demand Diving equipment - Australian-based, David Strike is a former Diving Instructor and Instructor Trainer Certifier, and a regular editorial contributor on dive-related topics to diving publications from around the world.  Founder and Managing Director of an International media and advertising organisation before returning full-time to diving in 1990, Strike has organised several world class diving events – with an emphasis on Technical Diving – and is the recipient of several ‘Industry Recognition’ awards, the ADEX ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’, and a Fellow of the Explorers Club of New York.

John has spent most of his life exploring the technical side of diving and was an early adopter of both trimix and rebreathers. He prefers to think of technical divers as risk managers rather than equipment junkies—although he readily admits to owning rather more gear than he probably needs.

A member of the US Deep Cave Diving Team and former National Director of the Cave Divers Association, John is now based on the Gold Coast, where he continues to teach and mentor divers. He strongly believes good divers never stop learning, and that education, mentoring, and real-world experience all play an important part in their development.

John is passionate about the diving industry and, beyond his in-depth technical diving experience, brings executive management and consulting experience to Dive Queensland to benefit both our corporate members and QLD scuba and snorkel divers.
